Nappy Rash:
An independent longitudinal study in the
1990s found that 'the type of nappy used is not a
significant factor in the incidence of nappy rash'
(Ref: Getting to the Bottom of Nappy Rash, R Philip,
A Hughs & J Golding. British Journal of General Practice,
August 1997: pp. 493-497).
The study found that the major cause of
nappy rash was infrequent nappy changing;

Development:
Real nappies do not delay the onset of walking. A baby's
development is not affected by their nappy and it is thought by many that
children in real nappies potty train six to twelve months earlier. Health
visitors have in the past recommended 'double disposable nappies' to strengthen
clicky hips: a cloth nappy does exactly the same job!
Superabsorbent gel:
Some parents are concerned that the superabsorbers in
disposable nappies may be dangerous. The effects of these chemicals on
delicate skin has not been fully studied.

Male Fertility:
Male fertility in developed countries has declined in recent
years. Researchers at Kiel University believe that there may be a link to
disposable nappies, because they keep testes too warm.
